Is it true that the executioner was the inspiration for the for the punisher character?

Yeah, he was based in the Executioner. You can clearly see that he fought in vietnam and his family got the same fate as Frank's.

I think I heard Marvel tried to get the rights.

BTW- are they still working on making that movie?

And very much so based on frank castle or the other way around I mean although after reading the Excutioner books you see Mack Bolan as a very different character to Frank Castle

Yeah, one of Bolan's nicknames was Sgt Mercy, wasn't it? Something Mercy?

Bolan isn't dead inside as much as Frank.

I prefer Frank but I've read more then a few Bolan books in my days. IDW did a Bolan comic years back. It was pretty good too. But it didn't sell. Sigh.

Maybe I should review that sometime.
